Student Rights Under Covid-19 – Moderated Q&A

  • What equity issues have surfaced for students with Dyslexic profiles, including students with IEPs?
  • What do parents need to understand about their students’ rights?
  • What steps should parents take if they need help?
  • What do IEP meetings look like this school year?  
  • What do IEP services look like this school year?
  • Should IEPs be changed to reflect remote or hybrid instruction? If so, what is acceptable and what isn’t?
  • What are Recovery Services and how do you ask for them?

Literacy and Learning in an Unpredictable Environment.

  • How can we best support our children with literacy and learning?
  • How can we know if our students’ literacy programming is aligned to the Science of Reading (in lower elementary, upper elementary, and secondary)?
  • What are some tips to support executive functioning in this unpredictable environment? How can we help our students develop a greater sense of agency?

  • What community groups exist to support parents?
  • If my community does not have a group, how can we create one? What tools and resources are available?
